Harry Kane has stated on Good Morning Britain that it’s ‘extra motivation’ for him to lift a trophy with Tottenham after presenter Piers Morgan expressed his worry at their form this season.

Morgan is a lifelong Arsenal supporter and he was in discussion with the Spurs striker about him lifting silverware with his country and club.

England are one of the favourites for the delayed Euro 2020 next summer, whilst Tottenham are sitting second in the Premier League table and hoping to end their trophy drought under the guidance of the trophy-laden coach, Jose Mourinho.

This was the discussion that took place between Morgan and Kane about the striker winning a trophy for both club and country as the in-form hitman admitted that it would be ‘amazing’ to do both.

“I don’t mind you bringing that silverware back [for England],” said Morgan. “But rather more worryingly. Tottenham are beginning to show the green shoots of potentially being competitive enough to win the Premier League and it would be the first time they have won the league in my life time, so I come at this from a different position.

“I want you to lift a trophy as England captain but I don’t think I can bear the torment of you lifting the PL title as Tottenham captain.”

“I know what that would do to you,” said Kane. “That’s extra motivation for me. Both would be amazing, but England come right now and I have my England mind on right now.”

A big eight or so months await Kane because, while many are confident that he will smash all individual records before him, there is that uncertainty about whether he will add trophies to his cabinet.

Kane is well on course to break Alan Shearer’s Premier League goalscoring record, including Wayne Rooney’s England record.

But if Kane can remain fit from now until the end of the Euros then both his club and country have that extra chance of ending their trophy droughts.
