Tim Sherwood has pointed the finger at Ryan Sessegnon for the stunner Tottenham Hotspur conceded this evening.

Spurs played out a pulsating first 45 minutes against Leicester City in North London.

Youri Tielemans opened the scoring for the visitors from the penalty spot – at the second attempt – but Harry Kane headed home an equaliser a mere minutes later.

Eric Dier then nodded Tottenham into the lead but James Maddison restored parity in splendid circumstances, firing a delicious volley beyond Hugo Lloris.

It was Timothy Castagne who delivered the cross after some slack defending from Sessegnon.

And as blown away by the ‘exquisite’ finish as Sherwood was, he couldn’t help but notice the £20 million Lilywhites star being majorly complicit.

He told Optus Sport: “It was exquisite. I think Sessegnon should’ve done better but let’s just enjoy the finish for now.”

Really, it’s a little harsh to blame any Tottenham player.

It was simply a stunning goal made out of virtually nothing and honestly you could blame Dier as much as Sessegnon for perhaps not being tight enough to the Leicester midfielder.

Analytical as he is, Antonio Conte won’t exactly put Maddison’s goal down as an act of God.

The no-nonsense Italian manager will no doubt take a look at how Tottenham could’ve defended it better and although Sessegnon was culpable, so too was Dier.
