Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, Duncan Castles has shared an update on Manchester City’s pursuit of a new striker.
The Cityzens are known to want a forward through the door this summer, and after their hopes of signing Harry Kane were crushed, it seems as though they’ll be looking at other options.
We all know about these recent links to Cristiano Ronaldo, but Castles is led to believe that they are going to focus on another elite goalscorer in Europe.
What’s been said?
Castles says City are now looking at Lewandowski.
“Manchester City are exploring the possibility and the option of Lewandowski, because Guardiola is determined to recruit a proven goalscorer and someone who will give them an edge in terms of a point striker, rather than relying on a false nine or Gabriel Jesus to lead the line again for City this season, as they look once again to win the Premier League, and more importantly deliver the Champions League to Abu Dhabi,” Castles said.

Better than Ronaldo?
There’s no question that Cristiano Ronaldo is the better player throughout his career, but right this second, there’s an argument to make that Lewandowski is the better player.
Ronaldo, as much as we hate to admit it, is a waning force, and that’s to be expected as a 36-year-old, but Lewandowski seems to be peaking right now.
Last season he netted 41 league goals in just 29 appearances, which is a ridiculous return, and if he can recreate that in the Premier League, nobody will come close to City this season.
It looks as though there could yet be one more blockbuster signing at City.
