As Newcastle United have been linked with a transfer involving Yunus Musah, we have explored how he would thrive under Eddie Howe.

It was claimed by 90 Min on Thursday that the Magpies, alongside Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Brighton were keen on the teenager’s arrival.

Eddie Howe would instantly fall in love with Newcastle target Yunus Musah

However, Eddie Howe and Yunus Musah would be a match made in heaven provided Newcastle United get the deal done.

A tireless defensive midfielder by trade, with an £88 million release, the Valencia lynchpin is one of the most promising off-the-ball No.6’s in Europe.

Currently, Bruno Guimaraes, who was called the side’s ‘creative spark’ on BBC Sport by his manager has been playing at the base of midfield.

However, if Eddie Howe gets his hands on Yunus Musah at Newcastle, this would also enable him to shift the Brazilian further forward.

Considering the relentless pressing and unstoppable energy that typifies the top four challengers, one understands why they have been compared to the early iteration of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

While the numbers may not particularly reflect how much of a defensive shield Musah is, considering 18th place Valencia are a shambles, the World Cup was a true reflection of his well-rounded skillset.

In a workhorse midfield alongside Leeds United duo Tyler Adams and Weston McKennie, it was the teenager who well and truly stood out, as he was omnipresent defensively, spotless in his tackling while sniffing out any attacking threat from the opposition.

Eddie Howe, who has prioritized workhorses like Sean Longstaff and Joelinton at Newcastle so far would get the most polished version of such a profile in Yunus Musah.

Unlike the aforementioned pair, the USA international is a lot more technically adept than given credit for anyway.

The highly-rated starlet is a talented ball-carrier and can break lines easily, which would aid the Magpies to elevate to the next level in their rise to the top.

While Yunus Musah is exactly the Eddie Howe profile of midfield due to the drive and energy he brings to the table, he could also increase the technical level at Newcastle and that too, at such a young age.

As project sides progress season upon season, so must their midfield to control games and not just play in transition.

Musah could allow the club to do just that whilst not even being close to his peak due to how young he is, which makes this move a no-brainer and one Howe would certainly sanction if given the choice to.
