If Julian Nagelsmann does end up becoming the next Tottenham Hotspur manager, Destiny Udogie could emerge as his trump card in N17.

The 20-year-old signed for Spurs in deal worth £15 million (Athletic) but since his return to Udinese on loan, he has become a bit of a forgotten man.

But when Destiny Udogie returns to Tottenham Hotspur, he could work wonders from the get-go under the guidance of Julian Nagelsmann.

Why Destiny Udogie and Julian Nagelsmann at Tottenham could be a match made in heaven

Ironically, the Italian starlet would have been the perfect left wing-back to thrive in Antonio Conte’s tactical setup.

But since Julian Nagelsmann has shown a tendency to favour a back three during his time at RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich, Destiny Udogie could aid the much-discussed managerial at Tottenham as well.

Blessed with bags of pace, a knack to put the ball on the six pence and a frightening level of directness, there are not many better up-and-coming left wing-backs than the youngster himself.

As seen under Nagelsmann at both the Bundesliga clubs he has managed, Angelino and Alphonso Davies were crucial to his setup.

Not only in terms of their attacking intent but also to allow the likes of Leroy Sane, Jamal Musiala and Dani Olmo to pick up the half-spaces to wreak havoc from narrower spaces.

Julian Nagelsmann, if he was to accept the Tottenham job will likely notice that barring Destiny Udogie and Pedro Porro, most of his attacking options are at their best in central areas.

Harry Kane is a striker but even aside him, Son Heung-min is no longer a major threat from wide areas, due to the decline in his 1v1 abilities while Dejan Kulusevski is at his best when deployed in the half-spaces.

In Tottenham loanee Destiny Odogie, Julian Nagelsmann could get his hands on a player that is perhaps an upgrade on Pedro Porro from an athletic point of view as well, which would allow his side to stretch opposition defences.

And considering Udogie’s age and profile as well the German tactician proving a haven for left wing-backs to thrive, a talented prospect could develop into a monstrous presence under his tutelage.
