Expert says Chelsea will stop at nothing to sign Liverpool target Zakharyan

Chelsea will reportedly pull out all the stops to try and sign Russian international Arsen Zakharyan, who is also believed to be wanted by Liverpool.

According to Dean Jones, the west London side are stopping at nothing to try and bring the attacking midfielder to Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea coming close to signing Zakharyan in the summer before FIFA and UEFA rulings on Russian players blocked a potential deal.

Zakharyan is regarded by many as one of the best Russian talents coming through, with the 19-year-old already a full international and a regular for Dynamo Moscow, with the playmaker making 19 appearances in all competitions this season.

Chelsea have been looking to sign Zakharyan for quite some time. However, according to KPRU, Liverpool are also tracking the teenager, with Jurgen Klopp seemingly interested in bringing another talented youngster to Anfield to add to his growing collection.

Indeed, Zakharyan would have been quite the addition for Liverpool given their current midfield woes. But as relayed by Jones, Chelsea are going all out to sign the Russian wonderkid in January despite already being pegged back by two of football’s governing bodies this year.

Jones said: “There’s no doubt they still want this guy. He’s a big deal and Chelsea are ready to roll out the red carpet for him. They want to make him feel special and they want to make him feel wanted. They believe that he’s got something very special and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if they do try to sign him again.”

Chelsea signing Zakharyan feels like a matter of ‘when’

Zakharyan has been on the tip of Chelsea fans tongues for what feels like a century, yet the upcoming January transfer window seems to be the point where the saga comes to an end with the teenager signing on the dotted line for the west London Premier League giants.

After all, Liverpool’s interest might be there, but Chelsea’s pursuit to sign Zakharyan has gone on for so long that it feels only natural that the Blues end up bringing the midfielder to Stamford Bridge, much to the dismay of Klopp, who could have been the perfect coach for the Dynamo star.
