Liverpool have been linked with a move for Jadon Sancho yet again.

The Borussia Dortmund winger has been linked with a switch to Liverpool quite a bit since joining the Bundesliga giants.

And according to Bild, the Reds are back in the mix to bring the 21-year-old attacker to Anfield.

The Times reported in April that Dortmund would be looking for around £87 million for the former Manchester City youth product.

But a German football expert does not believe a switch to Liverpool is viable.

Raphael Honigstein has told Sport1 that if Sancho does join Jurgen Klopp’s side, it’ll be at the expense of another big-name player.

He adds that Liverpool will only be able to afford the England international if Mo Salah – who has been linkd with a move away – winds up leaving.

Honigstein said: “I cannot imagine Liverpool, especially since the money for a Sancho transfer is simply not there. A new dynamic could only come into the matter if Mo Salah leaves.”

Do Liverpool need Sancho?

In a word, yes. Klopp needs anybody who will improve the Reds’ attack right now, but they don’t need him – or anyone – if it means Salah has to leave.

It’s been a rocky season for Salah on Merseyside but he has proven once again, with 29 goals in all competitions, that he is Liverpool’s most important attacking player by a distance.

Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have blown hot and cold all season – more cold than hot, it has to be said – but Salah is the only one in that front three who has found a little consistency.

Sancho might be a superstar over the coming years, but Salah already is one.
