Arsenal could be facing a significant injury setback after Gabriel Magalhaes picked up a groin problem while on international duty.
The defender went off during Brazil’s 2-0 win over Senegal in an international friendly, showing visible signs of discomfort as he left the pitch.
Although he managed to walk off under his own power at the Emirates Stadium, Gabriel was seen holding his groin area, which does not bode well for his immediate fitness.
With the North London derby just a week away, Arsenal will be anxiously waiting to find out how long the 27-year-old might be out of action.
Concerns Gabriel Magalhaes might have suffered a grade two groin injury

According to Physio Scout, there are fears Gabriel could be dealing with a Grade 2 injury, which might keep him out for several weeks.
The injury expert noticed the defender holding his adductor area, which is generally more concerning than lower muscle strains.
Recovery from a Grade 2 groin strain typically takes between three and six weeks. If it turns out to be a Grade 3 issue, he could be out for six to eight weeks or longer.
Arsenal will want to wait for further assessment before making any calls but will also be hoping it is nothing too severe at this stage.
If things go well, Gabriel could be back within one to three weeks, but that would depend on how his recovery goes day by day.
The Brazilian centre-back has established himself as one of the top defenders in the world, but with strong backup options available, Arsenal are unlikely to take unnecessary risks with his fitness.
Mikel Arteta now has much better depth in defence than in previous years. Either Cristhian Mosquera or Piero Hincapie could fill in until Gabriel returns.
Gabriel Magalhaes’ absence means a significant leadership gap for Arsenal
While Arsenal have enough depth to cover the position, losing his presence at the back will still be felt.
The former Lille defender also brings a real threat from set pieces, which is another aspect Arsenal will miss during an important stretch of fixtures.
The upcoming schedule does not offer any respite either. Spurs and Bayern Munich are next up at home before a trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea.
With Gabriel out, there is hope that Martin Odegaard can return soon and provide some much-needed stability for Mikel Arteta’s side.
