Speaking on The FA Cup’s YouTube channel, Fabinho has backed James Milner to become a manager once his playing career is over.

The 36-year-old has been playing Premier League football for almost 20 years now, and while he may soon hang up his boots, that doesn’t necessarily mean we will have seen the last of him.

Indeed, just like his former England teammates Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard, Milner could have a career in management ahead of him, and according to Fabinho, he’d do a great job.

What’s been said?

Fabinho gave his view on Milner.

“Who is the most likely to become a manager?” Fabinho was asked.

“Millie (James Milner), he’s a good leader, yeah, he’s an experienced guy, yeah, maybe Millie,” Fabinho said.

Perfect fit

James Milner becoming a manager just sounds right.

In fact, we can’t think of many players more well-suited to becoming a gaffer one day.

Milner has seen it all in his career from relegations to Champions League wins, and he’s played under some of the most influential managers of the modern era, from Jurgen Klopp, to Roberto Mancini and even Bobby Robson.

Milner has everything you’d think it takes to be a top-class manager, but after playing at the top-level for two decades, we really wouldn’t blame him if he just wanted to sit back and enjoy his retirement when it eventually comes around.
