Liverpool made the decision to sell Bobby Duncan to Fiorentina on transfer deadline day.

The Reds caved to Duncan’s desperation to leave Liverpool, with Fiorentina’s official website confirming the move.

Duncan’s transfer is a fascinating one. He’s a really talented prospect, but it is unclear if he will get near to their first team this season.

If he is not put in to compete straight away, then he could end up working with an infamous Liverpool flop.

Just earlier this week Fiorentina confirmed Alberto Aquilani as the club’s new under-18s coach.

Aquilani had a torrid time at Liverpool after signing in 2009.

He was supposed to be the player to help Liverpool kick on and win the title after an agonising near miss, but injuries meant he never got going.

Duncan, 18, could fall under Aquilani’s remit in his new job.

It could be a strange partnership to help Duncan get started at his new club.

They will have very different tales of their spells at Anfield to compare.
