Leeds manager news continues to do the rounds as Victor Orta is yet to find a replacement for Jesse Marsch at Elland Road.

It has been six days since the American was handed his P45 in Yorkshire, with Leeds exploring moves for Andoni Iraola of Rayo Vallecano, Feyenoord tactician Arne Slot and Marcelo Gallardo since taking that decision.

However, Leeds have been frustrated in their attempts so far.

As detailed by the Guardian, Orta flew to Madrid to speak to Iraola, although talks proved unproductive, while Slot has decided to stay at Feyenoord.

Gallardo is also said to be taking a break until the summer after eight years at River Plate.

Now, however, there has been an interesting update.

What’s the story?

Well, the Guardian also mention that Leeds are “expected to make” another attempt to hire Iraola, and are not taking no for an answer.

The 40-year-old has a release clause in his contract which is worth a sum in the region of £10m, and Leeds are willing to trigger it as they look to put an end to their manager hunt as soon as possible.

Iraola has clearly captured the imagination of those in the boardroom at Elland Road, having guided his Rayo Vallecano side to fifth in La Liga while playing an exciting, high pressing style of play.

The Spaniard also has a link to the current squad in Jack Harrison, who he played alongside at New York City.

Leeds could go without a manager

Interestingly, Leeds could see out the season with an interim in charge – according to the Daily Mail.

It was an approach Burnley adopted last season when opting for Mike Jackson as a replacement for Sean Dyche, and the Clarets were eventually relegated to the Championship.

If Leeds fail with their renewed approach for Iraola, then it is highly possible that Orta goes down this route.
