Arsenal seemingly have no intention of keeping Mohamed Elneny at the club.
The Egypt international is out of contract at the Emirates Stadium this summer.
And Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the former Basel midfielder is ‘expected to leave’ Arsenal.
Romano added that the Gunners have no plans on opening contract talks with the player.
He said on Twitter:
Will Arteta miss Elneny?
Well, honestly, nope.
Elneny won’t be a big miss at Arsenal, but that isn’t to say his longevity should be under-appreciated.
The truth is that the 29-year-old has shown something quite remarkable to survive in North London for as long as he has done, given that his career in the Premier League looked dead and buried under Unai Emery.
However, since returning from his loan at Besiktas, Elneny has impressed Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who even labelled the player ‘special‘ after a victory at Manchester United back in 2020.

That being said, Thomas Partey isn’t as prone to injury these days it would seem, and Albert Sambi Lokonga’s arrival last summer has pushed Elneny only further down the pecking order.
Elneny’s 170 minutes in the Premier League this season tells its own story and you can’t blame Arsenal for wanting to release him.
