According to Fabrizio Romano, Noah Okafor is now expected to leave RB Salzburg this summer, with Newcastle interested in signing him.

What’s the story?

Well, this is encouraging news for the Magpies.

It was TEAMtalk who revealed that Newcastle are keen to sign Okafor, who now looks like he’ll be on the market this summer.

You can see what Romano wrote on Twitter in full below.

Eddie Howe won’t enjoy hearing that the Bundesliga is Okafor’s most likely destination, although the Italian did concede that the race is still open.

So far this season, the Switzerland international has scored 12 goals in 26 appearances, while also providing six assists.

Okafor has also impressed in the Champions League, netting three times in six outings in Europe’s greatest club competition.

Newcastle must win race for Noah Okafor

RB Salzburg are no strangers to developing world class talent, such as Sadio Mané and Erling Haaland.

Okafor has a long way to go until he reaches their current level, although at the age of just 21, the sky is the limit for the Swiss sensation.

In our view, Newcastle must sign him this summer, or they risk allowing his reputation – and his price tag – to grow even more.

There’s no reason why Okafor cannot emulate Mané in the Premier League, and if RB Salzburg are willing to negotiate a sensible price, the Magpies must get this deal wrapped up.

After all, we’re talking about a potential star of the future here, who is already shining in the Champions League despite his age.

Keep an eye on this saga, as Okafor’s future is in the balance.
