What does Paulo Gazzaniga’s successful stand in appearance mean for Michel Vorm?

Since 2014 Michel Vorm has been the perfect deputy for Hugo Lloris at Tottenham Hotspur, but his role is suddenly under threat.
Vorm was unavailable to stand in for the injured Lloris at the weekend, handing new signing Paulo Gazzaniga a chance.
Gazzaniga really stepped up, producing a match saving performance as Spurs edged to a 1-0 victory.

Ever since Vorm signed, there has been a feeling that he is too good to play a back-up role, even though he appears content enough doing so.
Having represented Holland, Vorm is a talented goalkeeper who would improve a handful of Premier League sides, including Newcastle United and Crystal Palace, and even Scottish champions Celtic.

Vorm has been a very valuable piece of the puzzle for Tottenham in recent seasons, but Gazzaniga’s display shows Spurs can cope without him.
There is no need for Tottenham to actively attempt to move him on, but if a bid comes in then the path suddenly appears clear for the Dutchman to move on.
At 34, Vorm surely deserves one last chance to have a crack at being another number one, which is not going to happen at Tottenham any time soon with Hugo Lloris in it for the long haul.
