The Tottenham defender certainly didn’t look like he was pushing for a departure, contrary to reports.
The rest of Tottenham Hotspur’s squad returned to Hotspur Way to begin pre-season training, in images on the club’s Twitter page.
Though there was no sight of England fullback Kyle Walker, with the 27-year-old completing a big money move to Manchester City later that day, his international teammates were among the latecomers who joined Mauricio Pochettino and his coaching staff to prepare for the new season.
Harry Kane and Eric Dier – himself the source of interest from Manchester United according to the Independent, were all smiles as they began their pre-season, with the latter certainly not looking as if he was eager to push through a move to Old Trafford, as some sections of the media such as the Mirror had been suggesting.
Reports suggest that Tottenham are absolutely refusing to entertain any bid for the versatile defensive player (Sky Sports), unlike their willingness to discuss Walker’s departure for what is a huge fee.
Also arriving for pre-season training were Hugo Lloris, Victor Wanyama and Ben Davies.
