Glasgow Rangers defender James Tavernier has been linked with a move away from Ibrox during the summer.

After captaining Rangers to a crazy final day draw with Hibs, James Tavernier took to Twitter to comment on the result and the Gers’ season as a whole, and perhaps it may be fair to suggest that he hinted at where his future lies amid links with a move back to England.

His form has not always been the most impressive, but given that replacing him would be a very tough task for Steven Gerrard, and Lee Hodson – who arguably did not have the worst showing when he came on in the latter stages at Easter Road on Sunday – has not proved to be the best understudy, keeping him for next season would undoubtedly be a boost for Rangers.
But, judging by Tavernier’s tweet in the wake of the incredible 5-5 draw with Hibernian to conclude the Scottish Premiership season, it appears that the full-back has absolutely no intention of departing in the summer.

Tavernier scored a superb goal to hand Rangers a lifeline when they were 3-1 down. It was the kind of moment where he looked befitting of wearing the captain’s armband as he ran the length of the pitch to play a nice one-two with Jason Holt and tuck the ball home before urging his teammates to forget about celebrating the goal.
And the Gers would then score four more to move 5-3 in front. The points would be shared, and the entire defence was probably breathing a sigh of relief that Aberdeen’s win meant that their displays did not cost the Gers a chance at finishing second.
It was a stunning game to end the season, and Tavernier’s tweet perhaps best summed up how Rangers fans could not quite explain how they felt after having watched a dreadful show of defending coupled with one of the most entertaining games in recent memory.
And perhaps included in Tavernier’s tweet was the slightest hint that he has no plans to leave the club during the upcoming window as he expressed his excitement for next season…
