The West Ham United forward has been tipped to be part of England’s World Cup squad.
Oddschecker have exclusively told HITC Sport that Andy Carroll has been cut from 40/1 into 16/1 to be a part of Gareth Southgate’s England squad for this summer’s World Cup in Russia.
The 29-year-old returned to action for the Hammers last night, after having spent more than three months on the sidelines, and scored his side’s equaliser against Stoke.
Carroll came on as an 86th minute substitute, so he is obviously a long way from being 100 per cent fit.
Oddschecker have told HITC Sport that the 6ft 4in striker has been heavily backed into 16/1 to be on the plane to Russia in June.
The former Newcastle United and Liverpool hitman would obviously not be a starter for the Three Lions in Russia, but he could be a useful impact sub, if Southgate needs to utilise a plan B.
Carroll is arguably the Premier League’s best target man, and if England need a goal in one of their World Cup matches, he would surely be a fantastic option for Gareth Southgate.
The 29-year-old’s place in the England squad is still far from certain, however, and he will have to prove his fitness between now and the end of the season, if he is to have any chance whatsoever of being on the plane to Russia in June.
