- EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
Manchester United are interested in signing Rosenborg midfielder Sverre Nypan, HITC understands.
Sources have told HITC that Manchester United are keen on securing the services of Sverre Nypan in the summer transfer window.
Manchester United want to sign Sverre Nypan
Nypan has emerged as one of the most exciting talents in Scandinavia and has long been touted for a big move after making his first-team debut aged just 15.
Now, 17, the Norwegian youngster is already an integral part of Rosenborg’s first team and many are likening him to Martin Odegaard, who departed his homeland at 16.
Although Odegaard, who is now 25, did not have the best of times at Real Madrid, he is flourishing at Arsenal and is considered one of the best attacking midfielders in the Premier League.
Nypan signed a new long-term deal with Rosenborg last summer, tying him to them until 2026, but it is expected that he could depart in the summer of 2024.
HITC understands that Manchester United have been doing their homework on the player and the player’s camp is aware of their interest.
Competition for Manchester United
However, United, who are about to hire Dan Ashworth, are not going to find it easy to sign Nypan.
That is because there are a number of clubs in England who are interested in the 17-year-old and have been impressed by his performances.

Sources have told HITC that Manchester City are keen on Nypan and have been doing checks on him.
As with United, the midfielder’s camp is aware of interest from Pep Guardiola’s side, who are also planning to make a bid for West Ham United and Brazil international attacking midfielder Lucas Paqueta in the summer transfer window.
Aston Villa, Chelsea, Brighton and Hove Albion, Brentford and Nottingham Forest have also watched Nypan at various points in the past 12 months.
Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, AS Monaco, Lyon, Benfica and FC Porto are also showing an interest in the teenager as well.
