EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey

Manchester United want to get rid of Jadon Sancho for good, but they are facing a problem in getting a deal done with Borussia Dortmund, HITC understands.

Jadon Sancho fell out with Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag in the opening weeks of the season.

Ten Hag left him out of his squad for months before United decided to send Sancho back to Borussia Dortmund in the January transfer window.

The 23-year-old English winger joined Dortmund on loan from United until the end of the season. The youngster cost the Red Devils £73 million (The Guardian) in transfer fees when he moved to Old Trafford from the German club back in the summer of 2021.

Manchester United want Jadon Sancho summer sale

HITC understands that United and Dortmund are due to hold talks over the future of Sancho in the coming weeks.

Sources have told HITC that United have made it clear to Sancho and his representatives that they believe a sale this summer would be the ideal scenario. The England international winger is understood to be in agreement.

Sancho is looking to rebuild his career at Dortmund, who are keen on keeping him beyond the end of the season.

One potential problem

However, sources have told HITC that Dortmund are ideally looking for another season-long deal with an option to make it permanent.

While wanting a permanent offer, United would listen to a loan option, but the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners would want some sort of obligation built in.

As Sancho proved in January, what he wants will also dictate his future as he made it clear to United, who lost to Manchester City in the Manchester derby this past weekend, that he only wanted to join Dortmund in the New Year.

Now back in the Bundesliga, he is enjoying rebuilding his form, but it remains to be seen whether his future will be at Dortmund.

Sancho has made five starts and two substitute appearances in the Bundesliga for Dortmund since his loan move. He has given one assist in those games.
