- EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
Liverpool, Manchester City and Newcastle United remain interested in signing Archie Gray from Leeds United, HITC understands.
Sources have told HITC that Liverpool, Newcastle United and Manchester City all wanted to sign Archie Gray from Leeds United in the January transfer window.
Liverpool and Newcastle United still want Leeds United’s Archie Gray
Gray, who was described as “incredible” and “phenomenal” by former Elland Road star Jermaine Beckford in Leeds Live in August 2023, decided to commit his long-term future to Leeds and signed a new contract with the West Yorkshire club until 2028.
HITC understands that Liverpool, Newcastle and City have not given up on signing the teenager. The Premier League clubs are continuing to keep close tabs on Gray, who is a midfielder by trade but has been playing at right-back under head coach Daniel Farke this season.
Gray has made 26 starts and two substitute appearances in the Championship for Leeds this season. He has given one assist in those games.
The England Under-20 international has said that he did not want to leave Leeds in the January transfer window.

Gray said on the official Leeds podcast: “I’m a Leeds fan. There’s nowhere else I want to be, I wasn’t thinking about anywhere else. I just want to play here and enjoy my time here and try to help us get back to where we belong.”
Leeds are in the running for automatic promotion to the Premier League. The Whites are third in the Championship table with 60 points from 30 games, just a point behind second-placed Southampton, who have played 29 games.
Liverpool are aiming to win the Premier League title, while Newcastle United are not yet out of the running for the top four.
Sources have also told us that Liverpool have shown an interest in Gray’s younger brother Harry as well. Harry Gray is only 15 years of age and plays as a striker.
