Exciting Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Nadiem Amiri compared to Roberto Firmino

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked to Nadiem Amiri.

Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring exciting Hoffenheim attacker Nadiem Amiri, according to ESPN.

Amiri has been in excellent form for Hoffenheim since breaking into the team in 2015. This season he has scored four goals and provided two assists, helping the team into sixth place in the Bundesliga.

The 21-year-old has really benefitted from the departure of Roberto Firmino to Liverpool, even though he is yet to hit the heights of the Brazilian statistically.

As soon as Amiri broke into the team, he was compared to Firmino, with the Rhein-Necker Zeitung asking if the Liverpool star’s replacement had emerged.

Amiri has since kept his place in the team as an attacking midfielder, racking up more than 80 club appearances.

He is a Germany under-21 international and is under contract at Hoffenheim until 2020.

Amiri was quizzed about Firmino in 2016, and said he would love to emulate the Liverpool star.

He told BILD: “To go as far as Firmino would be a dream. He is my idol. I look up to him and follow everything he does. We write each other from time to time, he also gives me some tips.”

Amiri needs to show a bit more consistency to really start earning the comparisons, but a move to the Premier League could help him do just that.

He would be an alternative to Ross Barkley if Tottenham cannot agree a fee with Everton – and if he can emulate Firmino, Spurs might just get the better player in Amiri.
