Wigan Athletic attacker Josh Windass is likely to join Sheffield Wednesday, according to The Times.
Windass spent the second half of the past season on loan at Wednesday from Wigan.
The Latics will play in League One next season after getting relegated from the Championship and are also in administration.
Earlier this week, The Star claimed that Wednesday’s offer for the former Rangers man – who can play as a midfielder or as a forward – has been turned down.
However, The Times have claimed that the 26-year-old is ‘likely to move to’ the Owls.
Good move?
Windass – described by then Latics manager Paul Cook as “an exciting player with an eye for a goal” on the club’s official website in August 2018 – is a very good attacking player who is unlikely to stay at Wigan for next season.
Wednesday are an ambitious club, and Garry Monk is a very good manager, and it would make sense for the former Rangers man to move back to the Owls, this time on a permanent contract.
According to WhoScored, Windass made six starts and three substitute appearances in the Championship for Wednesday during the second half of the past season, scoring three goals in the process.
