Leeds youngster scored in under-23 win.
Leeds United secured a potential gem when they signed striker Kun Temenuzkhov from Barcelona’s academy in 2017.
Kun had a good first season in Leeds’ academy, playing for both under-23s and under-18s, helping the latter to win a title.
He has been more involved with the under-18s, but has risked being overshadowed by other exciting striking talent.
January signings Sam Dalby and Ryan Edmondson both seemed to jump ahead of Kun in the pecking order. Edmondson has already featured for the first team.
Then this summer Leeds signed Norwegian teenager Nicklas Haugland, and he is now showing his quality, scoring twice for the under-18s over the past fortnight.
Kun picked the perfect moment yesterday then to get back on the scoresheet and remind everybody of his quality.
He was picked by Carlos Corberan as a starter for the under-23s and lined up in attack alongside Tyler Roberts.
Roberts scored twice and Kun once in a 3-1 win over Sheffield United.
His goal was a rasping effort from outside the box, which took a deflection, although it looked to be on it’s way in anyway.
Still only 18, it could be argued the Bulgarian is still ahead of schedule, despite the competition around him.
His next challenge is to turn this goal into a scoring run and start establishing himself as a regular under-23 scorer, which could lead to catching Marcelo Bielsa’s eye.
