West Ham United are reportedly keen on signing the Borussia Dortmund ace.

According to a report from Sky Sports, West Ham are eyeing an ambitious swoop for Borussia Dortmund ace Mario Götze this summer, and as exciting as the link may be, the Hammers should be wary ahead of making a move for the German World Cup winner.
The 26-year-old burst onto the scene with Dortmund way back in 2010, before joining Bayern Munich in 2013.
He was one of the most highly coveted players on the continent in 2014, after scoring Germany’s winning goal against Argentina in the World Cup final.

His stock within the game has fallen dramatically since then, however, with a succession of serious injuries preventing him from going on to reach the very highest level.
Dortmund are reportedly prepared to cash in on Götze this summer, with Sky Sports reporting that a fee in the region of £18 million might be enough to prise him away from the Signal Iduna Park.
The German ace possesses undoubted talent, but his poor record with injuries and lack of form over the past two years suggests that signing him will still be accompanied with huge risk, in spite of the fairly reasonable £18 million transfer fee that has been reported.

West Ham have experienced problems in the past when signing injury prone players – just look at Andy Carroll.
All the Hammers need is another expensive player who is unreliable from a fitness perspective, and whilst Götze could undoubtedly still be a hit, the east London outfit should proceed with caution.
