Folarin Balogun is quite clearly a rising star at Arsenal.
And it’s not only because he scored 10 goals in 15 appearances for the Gunners’ Under-23 side this past season.
It’s also because Arsenal rejected a £5 million approach from Brentford for the 18-year-old hitman in January [The Daily Mail], which underlines what the club think of him.
There have been some suggestions in the media that Balogun could leave Arsenal this summer, while other opinion-based articles for numerous publications have suggested that now is the time to stay in North London, amid doubts about Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s future in England.
In any case, the New York-born striker has sent out an interesting and cryptic tweet, posting a number of ‘hourglass’ emojis in response to a compilation of his goalscoring exploits.
What does it mean?
It could mean a couple of things:
A) He’s hinting that he might get chances in Mikel Arteta’s senior side, having failed to make his competitive debut for Arsenal of yet.
B) He might be hinting that a new contract is on the horizon
C) He might be suggesting that it’s only a matter of time before he leaves.
There’s definitely meaning behind Balogun’s tweet and it’ll be interesting to see what it is, but it’s probably either A or B.
