Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold has stated that the Premier League title race is ‘exciting’ after Chelsea’s late winner against Leeds on Saturday, as he told Premier League Productions (11/12/21 at 5:10 pm).
Another drama-filled action on a Saturday and another day where Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City stamped their authority in the Premier League title race.
Whilst Alexander-Arnold helped Liverpool beat Aston Villa 1-0, at the same time, Chelsea needed a stoppage-time goal to see off a resilient Leeds side.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side actually opened the scoring at Stamford Bridge and, at one point, they were even level at 2-2 with seven minutes left on the clock.
But if you want to win the Premier League title, then you need to deliver the goods at whatever price and during difficult moments.
The Reds did that against Villa and during their last-minute winner at Wolves last week.
Alexander-Arnold made it clear that his side ‘can’t complain’ about Chelsea’s late goal because they did it last week.
“Didn’t know that,” said Alexander-Arnold. “Just seen that they scored a last-minute penalty.
“But we can’t complain because we did the same last week. That’s the title race really, these things happen and it makes it exciting.
“Three teams going for it this year it seems like. We have to keep winning. This is an important period. The games come thick and fast.
“So, any sort of slip-up right now will be detrimental. We want to be top of the league come March/April to push in during the final run-in. “

After 16 games, it’s Manchester City who sit top of the pile after they beat Wolves 1-0 during the early kick-off.
Pep Guardiola’s side are one point ahead of second-placed Liverpool and two ahead of Chelsea.
It was only last week that Thomas Tuchel’s men were sitting top of the pile.
But dropped points against the Hammer last week has pegged them back, but with the games coming thick and fast, it wouldn’t be a surprise if it changes a few more times.
