Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to react after Dean Smith confirmed that Matty Cash has returned to the squad ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Newcastle.
The £16 million man has been missing since the 0-0 draw against Brighton on February 13th, as has Jack Grealish.
While Smith confirmed that the England international won’t be ready in time to face the Magpies, it’s great to see Cash back.
The 23-year-old has made 21 Premier League starts before suffering a hamstring injury at the Amex Stadium.
Villa’s No.2 has been a huge cog in what is the Premier League’s second-best defence this season.

Behind Manchester City’s 15 clean sheets, Villa are tied on 14 shutouts with Chelsea – that’s a fine achievement for the Villans, who have been watertight at the back this term.
Ahmed Elmohamady has been playing in Cash’s place.
While the Egypt international is a fine professional, he simply isn’t as good as the former Nottingham Forest defender.

It speaks volumes that Villa have lost two of the four games they’ve played without Cash in the backline.
Smith is surely over the moon to have his first choice right-back fit and raring to go again.
Let’s see what the Villa fans on Twitter have been saying about Cash’s return…
