According to The Athletic, Everton are keen to sign Kieran Trippier this summer after his excellent campaign with Atlético Madrid.

The 26-cap England international joined Diego Simeone’s side for £20 million in the summer of 2019.

Since then, he has helped the Spanish outfit rise to the top of La Liga, and could be about to win his first ever top-flight title.

Atlético Madrid are currently leading Spain’s top-flight by two points, with just one game left to play.

Trippier has been a huge part of their success, having recorded an impressive six assists in 27 La Liga outings.

It’s no wonder that Everton want him.

One man who’s a big fan of the 30-year-old is Gary Neville.

When Trippier was shining for England at the 2018 World Cup, the Sky Sports pundit wrote a column for The Times in which he waxed lyrical about the full-back.

Neville wrote: “The wing-back system suits him. He’s tenacious, he’s got energy, he puts the ball into the box with great quality.

“It sounds crazy, but it’s unusual now to get a full back who can cross the ball like that. He’s exceptionally good at it.”

A 30-year-old probably isn’t the long-term replacement for Seamus Coleman that the Goodison Park faithful were hoping for.

However, there is simply no denying that Trippier’s technical ability would see him thrive under Carlo Ancelotti.

The former Tottenham man also has bundles of Premier League experiences, having made 107 appearances in the competition.

If Atlético Madrid are silly enough to let him go, this could be one of the signings of the summer
