Ronald de Boer has raved about Luis Diaz and how brilliant he is in his signature left-wing role for Liverpool.

Since joining the Reds from FC Porto in January, Diaz has been an absolute revelation.

While many were doubtful of whether the Colombian international would adapt to the Premier League, he put every single doubt to bed.

From day one, Luis Diaz seemed born to play in a Liverpool shirt amidst the hustle and bustle of the English game.

The £56,000-a-week wideman’s tricky feet, frightening pace and directness made him an instant fit in Jurgen Klopp’s breathless style of play.

Brought in as a successor to Sadio Mane, Diaz has fared well in his early days at Liverpool in trying to replicate the club legend.

And a true footballing icon is most certainly a fan of the 25-year-old who has gone on to become a Kop favourite.

When discussing how Cody Gakpo could thrive as a left-winger at Liverpool, Ronald de Boer also highlighted the brilliance of Luis Diaz in the role.

“I think it’s important for him [Cody Gakpo], he’s better when he starts on the left and comes inside. I think Liverpool plays a little bit like that, I remember [Luis] Diaz playing there, who is also by the way an exceptional talent”, he told talkSPORT, as relayed by Metro.

Luis Diaz is worthy of all the credit in the world

Aside from how quickly Luis Diaz adapted to the Premier League, it is also worth bearing in mind his sizable impact on Liverpool so far.

Before succumbing to injury, the electric winger often bailed his side out on multiple occasions as they struggled on most matchdays before the World Cup.

Several other big names should follow suit from Ronald de Boer and give Liverpool’s Diaz the credit he deserves.
