Danny Higginbotham raved about Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones on Sky Sports Main Event last night (9:33pm, September 24, 2020).

The former Manchester United and Stoke City defender was impressed with the display produced by Jones during Liverpool’s 7-2 victory over Lincoln City away from home in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Thursday evening.

Higginbotham, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, was on co-commentary duty for the match.

Former Liverpool star John Aldridge was also impressed with the display produced by Jones and has praised him on Twitter.

Higginbotham said in injury time of the match on Sky Sports Main Event last night (9:33pm, September 24, 2020) when asked for his Man of the Match: “Curtis Jones. I think he has been exceptional, particularly in the first half.

“Every time he gets the ball, he is so direct, he wants to make things happen, he is full of confidence as well, and he has a very, very bright future ahead of him.”

Impressive performance from Curtis Jones

Jones was superb for Liverpool in their pretty comfortable win on Thursday evening.

The 19-year-old midfielder scored two goals and was a constant threat to the opposition defenders throughout.

According to WhoScored, the England Under-19 international midfielder took five shots of which three were on target and two ended in goal, played one key pass, had a pass accuracy of 92.4%, took 91 touches, attempted four dribbles, and made two tackles, two interceptions.

The teenager could turn out to be an important player for Liverpool as the season progresses.
