Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhailo Mudryk has spoken to Arsenal left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko about a move to the Gunners and has been very impressed by manager Mikel Arteta, according to CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs in GiveMeSport.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has reported that Mudryk wants to join Arsenal from Shakhtar in the January transfer window.

Jacobs has added that the 21-year-old Ukraine international winger has been very impressed by Arteta after speaking to his compatriot Zinchenko.

Zinchenko, who can also play in midfield, joined Arsenal from defending Premier League champions Manchester City in the summer of 2022.

Mudryk and Zinchenko play for the Ukraine national football team.

Mykhailo Mudryk impressed by Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta

Jacobs said: “From Mudryk’s point of view, he wants Arsenal, it’s as simple as that.

“He said that many times including directly to me in an interview that I did about two months ago, he said he can’t say no to Arsenal.

“He’s spoken directly with Zinchenko his countryman, he’s very impressed by Mikel Arteta and the style that the team play.”

Exciting

In our view, it is very exciting for Arsenal fans that Mykhailo Mudryk wants to move to the Emirates Stadium.

The Ukrainian is one of the best young wingers in Europe, and that he is keen on a move to Arsenal shows what footballers really think of the Gunners at the moment.

Arteta is one of the best young managers in the game at the moment, and he has turned around Arsenal and has built a team in his own image.

Arsenal play beautiful and free-flowing football, and Mudryk – described asan exceptional talent” by former Chelsea and Celtic striker Chris Sutton in The Daily Record in October – would fit right in.
