Aaron Ramsdale produced some heroics for Arsenal again this past weekend.

The Gunners secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium to make it five Premier League victories in succession.

However, the reason why the recording of those three points was so easy was because of Ramsdale.

At 1-0, the former Sheffield United goalkeeper, a £30 million signing last summer, pulled off a fantastic save to keep out a header from a Foxes player.

It’s vital, game-changing moments like that which have led to Ramsdale being one of the Premier League’s finest goalkeepers this season, with even Brendan Rodgers, the City manager, singing his praises after the game.

Responding to Rodgers’s praise, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta told Football London: “Well, first thanks to Brendan for thinking that way and I think Aaron has to take those words to give him confidence and support in what he’s doing.

“I always said he’s been exceptional since the day we signed him, not only on the pitch, but what he transmitted, what he brought to the building, to the club, outside with his character and personality and that’s the kind of people that we want to bring to the club.

Arteta, in particular, deserves massive credit for the addition of Ramsdale.

In September of 2021, it was reported by The Athletic that Edu, Arsenal’s transfer guru, wasn’t all that keen on the 23-year-old stopper.

But the Spanish manager is reported to have fought for Ramsdale’s arrival and boy, what vindication Arteta must feel on a daily basis.

He has arguably been Arsenal’s best and most consistent player since coming into the starting lineup in September and, at the moment, he’s going to be playing Champions League football next season, too – and it’s richly deserved.
