Rangers fans are reacting to reports that a young Ibrox player is in fresh talks to extend his contract – despite speculation he could quit for Sheffield United.

The Daily Record claimed at the start of this season that Kai Kennedy had ‘decided against’ a new deal at Rangers, with Sheffield United ‘high on a list of potential destinations as he weighs up the best move’.

But a transfer for Kennedy, who is in the final year of his existing contract at Ibrox, failed to materialise.

And the Rangers academy product was instead loaned to Inverness Caledonian Thistle until the new year, having been dropped to the reserves after stalling on the Gers’ offer.

But, according to Glasgow Live, ‘a clear pathway has been shown to Kennedy’, who could now commit his future to Steven Gerrard’s side and in doing so dent Sheffield United’s hopes of signing him.

And this is what those of a Rangers persuasion are saying on Twitter…

Sheffield United may not be the only admirers of Kennedy, whom Roma, Bayern Munich and Manchester City have all ‘been interested in signing over the last 18 months’, according to The Daily Record.

The 18-year-old left winger made his one and only Rangers appearance against Stranraer at the start of 2020, and has played five times for Thistle.
