Brazil legend Rivaldo has hailed Liverpool transfer target and France World Cup star Kylian Mbappe as ‘excellent’ after his hat-trick in the World Cup final against Argentina.

Only one man in history has scored a hat-trick in the World Cup final and that was Geoff Hurst for England in 1966.

And whilst he was able to lift the trophy, it was heartache for Mbappe because Lionel Messi-inspired Argentina ended his hopes of winning back-to-back crowns on the world stage.

One thing is for sure, Mbappe is already a world superstar, but that hat-trick and performance would have just elevated his status even further.

Despite France’s crushing loss in the penalty shootout, he was highly praised, including by Brazil legend Rivaldo, as he posted on his Instagram story.

“I also want to highlight Kylian Mbappe,” said Rivaldo. “He did an excellent World Cup. A scorer and decider at just 23.”

MBAPPE TO LEAVE PSG?

Back in the summer, there was a lot of talk about the 23-year-old joining Real Madrid and starting the next chapter of his career.

Perhaps to the surprise of some, he signed a new PSG contract instead. But it wasn’t too long before noises started coming out that he was unhappy and wants to leave.

Liverpool have always been mentioned as a team that would love to have Mbappe on their books, if he wants to take his status to even higher levels, then moving to that already-elite and historical club is needed.

Those on Merseyside would bounce off the walls if he ever entered their building, but more than likely, when he does take his next step, it will be to Real Madrid.
