Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to Tottenham Hotspur appointing Ledley King as a first-team coach.
As announced on Tottenham’s official website, King has been appointed as a first-team assistant coach to head coach Jose Mourinho.
The former Spurs defender will join as a member of the North London club’s first-team staff, and, according to the statement, will work “alongside the coaches, analysts and playing squad both at the Training Centre and on matchdays”.
Mourinho has said that he is “extremely pleased” to have the Englishman in his backroom staff now, and Tottenham legend Lineker is overjoyed at the appointment.
Smart decision
King was a brilliant defender during his time, and he could have become a world legend had there not been injury problems for him.
Tottenham defenders, especially the younger ones, will benefit from working with the Englishman on a daily basis.
Top-four challenge
Tottenham failed to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season, and they will be determined to return to the Champions League places in 2020-21.
