Tottenham Hotspur’s Champions League campaign got off to the perfect start on Wednesday evening as they beat Marseille 2-0 via a pair of goals from Richarlison.

The Brazilian was Tottenham’s main man in midweek as the attacker netted his first two goals for the club on the biggest of stages.

This wasn’t only Richarlison’s first goalscoring performance for Spurs, it was his Champions League debut, and it’s fair to say that he stepped up to the occasion.

Richarlison was unbelievably impressive on his Champions League debut, and he even managed to impress Gary Lineker with his showing.

Lineker was more than impressed by Richarlison’s performance in Europe, stating that his two goals were ‘excellent’.

Richarlison did what he does best against Marseille, netting two headed goals against the French club.

These two goals will give Richarlison a world of confidence. The attacker has got something of a monkey off of his back by netting his first goal for Spurs, while he’s also proven to everyone that he can do it at Champions League level.

Richarlison had a goal disallowed against Fulham at the weekend, and while his celebrations were cut-short, you could see just how much scoring for Spurs means to this young man, and this sort of passion will stand him in good stead going forward.

If you’re impressing Gary Lineker as a striker, you must be doing something right, and it’s fair to say that the Brazilian didn’t put a foot wrong against the Ligue 1 side on Wednesday.
