According to Marca, Everton are interested in signing Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic.

Interestingly, the Toffees would be doing business with their former manager if they brought Jovic to Merseyside as the Serbian is currently working under Carlo Ancelotti.

Jovic may not play much these days for Real Madrid, but Ancelotti is still a fan of Jovic, labelling him as a ‘good striker’ earlier this season.

What’s been said?

Ancelotti praised Jovic earlier this term.

“Luka Jovic is a good striker. Its qualities are different from Benzema. Vinícius’ first goal comes from an excellent play on his part. His goal shows that he is an area striker. That’s what he is. I want to congratulate him, because I know it has been difficult for him,” Ancelotti said.

Seal of approval

If Ancelotti is saying that Jovic is a good striker, then he must be doing something right in training.

Yes, his goal record hasn’t been great in recent years, but when it comes to judging strikers, there aren’t many managers more qualified than the Italian.

Ancelotti has managed the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Andriy Shevchenko, Flippo Inzaghi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Didier Drogba – it’s safe to say he knows what a good striker looks like.

Jovic could be worth a gamble for Everton. Especially if Arsenal’s interest in Dominic Calvert-Lewin amps up in the coming months.
