Rangers first-team coach Michael Beale has praised Liverpool central defender Nathaniel Phillips on Twitter for his performance against Wolverhampton Wanderers this evening.

Beale worked with Phillips when he was a youth coach at Liverpool, and the Rangers coach was impressed by the display produced by the 23-year-old.

Liverpool have got the better of Wolves 1-0 away from home at the Molineux Stadium in the Premier League this evening.

Former Wolves attacker Diogo Jota scored the only goal of the game in the second minute of first-half injury time.

How did Nathaniel Phillips play?

Injuries to Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez have opened the door for Phillips, who has taken his chances well.

The 23-year-old is having a breakthrough season at Liverpool, and the Englishman had another good game against Wolves this evening.

The youngster was solid at the back, did not try anything flashy, and did not give the Wolves attackers much space.

According to WhoScored, Phillips had a pass accuracy of 77.3%, won four headers, took 59 touches, and made two interceptions and six clearances against Wolves.
