Leeds United have reignited their interest in Marcus Maddison.

Maddison, 24, has been linked to Leeds in the past, with BBC Sport reporting former owner Massimo Cellino pulled the plug on a deal.
The winger has only improved since then, becoming a more consistent threat for the League One side, and will command a price tag higher than £2 million.

A couple of seasons ago, wing play was Leeds United’s weak point, but their options have improved since then, with Stuart Dallas and Ezgjan Alioski among the team’s best players, and Pawel Cibicki coming to the fore.
Maddison would add to a strength, and be an instant upgrade on raw prospect Hadi Sacko, who has been inconsistent during his 18 months at the club.
Maddison has repeatedly stated a desire to play for a big club again after being released by Newcastle as a teenager, and the chance to play at Elland Road is one he would surely not turn down.
Some of Leeds’ recruitment in the summer was criticised by supporters as being too focused on the foreign market, and in terms of squad balance, it is healthy to have a mixture of domestic players and imports.
Signing Maddison would help redress this to a degree and show the club remain committed to finding good value in England where they can too.
The winger would give the Whites another very dangerous option, which strikers Kemar Roofe and Pierre-Michel Lasogga could benefit from.
This season already he has bagged nine goals in all competitions and provided 18 assists.
Leeds are pushing to win promotion and having got into the play-off spots, this is a time to really kick on. Signing Maddison would be a positive statement of their intent.
