Marcelo Bielsa agrees that Mateusz Klich was ‘back to his best’ during Leeds United’s 2-0 Premier League victory over Crystal Palace on Monday night, in quotes reported by Leeds Live.

It is difficult to judge the 30-year-old’s debut season in the top flight.

On one hand, Klich is one of Leeds’ most productive attackers, contributing eight goals and assists from midfield.

On the other, the Poland international has flickered in and out of form, a player renowned for his boundless energy reserves looking a little weary on occasions.

Klich was even dropped to the bench for only the second time during Bielsa’s reign for the recent 2-1 victory at Newcastle United.

But, as Leeds picked up only their fourth home win of 2020/21 against Crystal Palace, their ‘Man for All Seasons’ was once again swaggering across the frost-flecked Elland Road turf, displaying the kind of delightful, purposeful touches that became his trademark in the Championship.

“Exactly how you explained it, that’s exactly what I think,” Bielsa said when asked if Klich was ‘back to his best’.

Klich wasn’t the only long-serving Leeds ace who shone like a Belisha beacon on a sub-zero night in West Yorkshire.

Liam Cooper, Stuart Dallas and Kalvin Phillips once again showcased their top-flight quality, while Jack Harrison and Patrick Bamford maintained their fine goal-scoring form.

And, with Sheffield United, Fulham and West Brom cut adrift, Leeds fans can start preparing for a second season back in the Big Time.

No one will want to admit it just yet but Leeds are, most definitely, staying up. Then again, relegation has never really been a concern.
