Former West Ham United boss Alan Pardew has told Sky Sports (19/11/2017) that he would have taken the Hammers job had he been offered it.

West Ham sacked manager Slaven Bilic earlier this month, immediately replacing him with David Moyes after a 4-1 home defeat to Liverpool – but Moyes hasn’t enjoyed an instant impact.

Moyes took charge of his first West Ham game on Sunday, but lost 2-0 at Watford as Will Hughes and Richarlison both scored at Vicarage Road, leaving Hammers fans questioning Moyes’ appointment once again.

The Scot – who suffered relegation with Sunderland last season – has yet to really grab the hearts of West Ham fans, and one former Hammers boss has revealed that he would have been interested in the job.

Alan Pardew spoke to Sky Sports on Sunday, and revealed that he would have been open to a return to East London – but believes Moyes will fare well in the job if given time.

“Yeah I would have taken it. Yeah,’ said Pardew. “It was a job where you know you could tell it was a good board and good players and in a position where they are under performing and as a manager that really helps when you go in because you can then make an instant impact. I think David has got a good job here and I think he will do well.’

Alan Pardew manager of Crystal Palace looks on priorto the Premier League match between Everton and Crystal Palace at Goodison Park on September 30, 2016 in Liverpool, England.

Pardew, 56, spent more than three years in charge of the Hammers between 2003 and 2006, guiding the club back to the Premier League in 2005 and the FA Cup final in 2006, before being sacked with a 41% win rate.

Out of work since losing his job at Crystal Palace in December of last year, Pardew is unsurprisingly getting his name out there, but West Ham fans would seemingly have been keen on a return.

A number of fans took to Twitter to suggest that Pardew would have been a better appointment than Moyes, even asking owner David Gold why Pardew wasn’t handed the job – despite his less-than-stellar reputation in recent years.
