West Bromwich Albion are linked with a £25 million move for Watford’s Troy Deeney.
Kevin Campbell has suggested on Twitter that he wants West Bromwich Albion to pursue Watford striker Troy Deeney.
According to The Daily Mail last week, West Brom boss Alan Pardew is interested in the 29-year-old, who will cost an eye-watering £25 million.
That isn’t an awful lot in today’s market, but it is for a centre-forward who only has 24 Premier League goals – 11 of which were penalties – in 90 appearances.
The Baggies are 19th in the table, three points adrift of safety and Pardew’s side have managed only five goals in the 10 league games that the 56-year-old has taken charge of.
You could argue that the acquisition of a prolific goalscorer could well be the difference between safety and relegation for Albion.
And Campbell has thrown his weight behind West Brom’s pursuit of Deeney.
Spending that sort of money on Deeney is madness, even if the market is inflated. He is a professional nuisance who will worry opposition defenders due to his physicality, not his knack for scoring goals and West Brom need a goalscorer above all else.
