Ex-West Bromwich Albion defender Jonny Evans gives his verdict on Wolverhampton Wanderers fans

West Bromwich Albion were relegated last season, while Wolverhampton Wanderers were promoted.

Jonny Evans has told Leicestershire Live that he thinks Wolverhampton Wanderers fans were great with him.

Evans left West Bromwich Albion to join Leicester City in the summer, and when he flew back from holiday, he was greeted by a number of Wolves supporters at the airport.

Wolves had just been promoted, while West Brom had sunk into the Championship.

But Evans insists that no Wolves fans crossed the mark with what they said to him.

Evans’ new side Leicester are set to take on Wolves in the Carabao Cup later this evening at Molineux.

But the centre-back insists that he is not expecting a particularly hostile reception from the Wolves crowd, despite his links with West Brom.

“I think it might be alright,” said Evans.

“I was flying back from Portugal a year-and-a-half ago into Birmingham and I was surrounded by Wolves fans.

“They were all great with me and were chatting.

“They gave me a little bit of banter but other than that they were great.”

Wolves and Leicester are both expected to make changes to their line-ups for the cup match this evening, with Nuno and Claude Puel set to give a number of their fringe players the chance to impress.
