Just a few years ago, Peter Odemwingie was soaring in the footballing world. Having scored goals in the likes of the World Cup and the Champions League it seemed as if he was living the dream, with his tenure at West Bromwich Albion also bringing him great success.

Unfortunately for the Nigerian things soon turned sour, and following failed tenures at the likes of Stoke City and Hull City the 35-year-old finds himself without a club. As reported by SunSport, Odemwingie has said he is willing to drop down to League One if it means one day reaching the Premier League once again.

The three-time Premier League player of the month winner has spoken openly about his journey towards getting back into football, and despite his veteran age the forward still believes he has plenty to offer in the game.

He said: “I am prepared to drop down in the short term until the summer, and hopefully by then I will have attracted interest from the Premier League or one of the European leagues.

“I will play my way, starting from scratch, to get back to whatever level that I can. I need a window to show what I can still do.

“I am not afraid to be on League One money; I’m just a big kid who misses football.

“I want to serve a purpose and show people you don’t have to give up, that I will absolutely 100 per cent go down a level – there is nothing to hide.

His spirited attitude may well draw the attention of lower league clubs, with his end ambition being to one day get back into the top flight. Who knows, maybe he will even return to The Hawthorns for another spell after his first stint was such a success.
