Darren Fletcher paid a visit to West Bromwich Albion earlier this year, after leaving Stoke City.
Darren Fletcher has praised the impact Slaven Bilic has had on his former club, West Bromwich Albion.
West Brom lead the Championship heading into Tuesday’s trip to Leeds United, and are the only club in the division yet to taste defeat.
And Fletcher, who left Stoke City at the end of last season, knows first-hand what things are like under Bilic having visited the Baggies’ training ground earlier this year.
“He’s doing a fantastic job,” Fletcher told Talksport on Tuesday morning. “Credit to him.
“It’s a fantastic club, I loved my time there and it’s fantastic to see.
“All the players are enjoying it. I went in in pre-season for a couple of days just to see around the place and the place was buzzing. There was a real liveliness about the place, a real good atmosphere around the place and ultimately that comes from the manager.
“The players are enjoying working with him and you can see that in the performances on the pitch.
“He’s added additions who’ve been fantastic and just given them that extra edge. A couple of players from the academy are thriving as well.
“So things are good at West Bromwich Albion and long may it continue.”
Fletcher spent the bulk of his career at Manchester United, but enjoyed a two-and-a-half-year spell at West Brom, whom he captained.
He left for Stoke in 2017 but was relegated from the Premier League, alongside the Baggies, in his very first season at the Bet365 Stadium.
It was speculated that Fletcher could return to Manchester United as director of football.
