Former West Bromwich Albion star Peter Odemwingie could be set to drop down to League One with Bolton Wanderers, according to a report from the Bolton News.

Odemwingie’s climb back to football relevancy has been well-documented after his fall from grace following his departure from West Brom.

Since leaving The Hawthorns, the Nigerian has spent time at the likes of Stoke City and Hull City without really making too much of an impact.

Now, after a desperate plea where he suggested that he was willing to drop down a few levels, it seems as if Bolton could be his next destination, as reported by the Bolton News.

The paper claims that the 35-year-old is set for medical tests on Thursday having met with club officials earlier in the week, as his search for a new club that has lasted since the summer finally appears to be coming to an end.

His last appearance in English football was during a loan spell at Bristol City, and he then initially looked all set for a permanent move to Hull before Steve Bruce’s departure meant that the proposed transfer was shelved.

He will obviously need to take quite the wage cut in order to drop down to the third tier, but he has expressed that he does not mind the difference in pay as long as he is able to prove that he still has what it takes to succeed at the highest level.
