Middlesbrough could now bring former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Tom Glover back to English football this summer.

Tom Glover could now return to England with Middlesbrough some four years since leaving Tottenham Hotspur.

That is according to a report from TEAMtalk, who claim that Boro have now held talks to sign goalkeeper Glover.

It’s stated that Wrexham have been interested in signing Glover but it’s Middlesbrough who are now pushing to sign him.

Boro are losing loanee Zack Steffen back to Manchester City this summer and are chasing a new first-choice goalkeeper.

Glover is one option after deciding to leave Melbourne City at the end of his contract this summer.

A return to Europe is the plan for Glover and it may well be a return to England if Boro can get a deal sorted.

Tottenham Hotspur released Tom Glover in 2019

Glover may well feel that he has unfinished business in English football.

The Australian started out with Sutherland Sharks in New South Wales before joining the Tottenham ranks in 2014.

Then a 17-year-old stopper, Glover would have been hoping to break through and become a first-team star at Tottenham.

That never happened for Glover as he failed to make a single first-team appearance for Spurs.

Loans to Central Coast Mariners and Helsingborg didn’t help and Glover was released in the summer of 2019.

Now with four years of fairly consistent playing time under his belt back in Australia, Glover is ready to move on again.

The 25-year-old will feel that he can finally make an impact in English football and joining a promotion-chasing side like Boro could be the right move.

That would see Glover team up with former Spurs midfielder Michael Carrick, with both no doubt ultimately looking to join Tottenham in the Premier League.
