Tottenham Hotspur are searching for a new manager… could Sergei Rebrov be a left-field shout?

Jose Mourinho left Tottenham in April, and Daniel Levy has yet to find a replacement, with a summer appointment likely.

Ex-Spurs men have been touted for the job, such as Scott Parker and Jurgen Klinsmann, though neither look like particularly likely appointments.

There is a former Tottenham man excelling in management right now in Rebrov though, whose success has been coming over in Hungary.

Remember Rebrov? He joined Spurs from Dynamo Kiev in 2000 having been a goal machine in Ukraine, but manager just 15 goals in 75 games for Tottenham.

As a player, the Ukrainian went down as an expensive Spurs flop, but he’s now faring very well in management.

On Monday, Rebrov was named Coach of the Year in Hungary, having guided Ferencvaros to a third straight league title.

Add in that he was voted Ferencvaros Manager of the Decade last year, and Rebrov is really making a name for himself as a manager.

Even with Dynamo Kiev, Rebrov won five trophies, including two league titles before heading off to Al-Ahli in 2017. In less than a year there, he lost just five of his 38 games in charge.

Rebrov’s win rate in each of his three managerial jobs is above 60%, and it surely won’t be long until clubs are looking to lure him away from Ferencvaros.

It may be too soon for him to land the Tottenham job, and Daniel Levy may not want to get burned again by Rebrov, but his record is hugely impressive and he is certainly a name to keep tabs on moving forward.
