The former Tottenham Hotspur winger joined for £870,000 two years previous and made only one league appearance in that two-year period.
Selling him was a no-brainer for the Spurs chairman, especially given the £3 million profit, but the chances are that the 27-year-old is worth a hell of a lot more than that now.
Falque’s post-Tottenham career continues to shine and he looks set for another fine season with Torino.
The Spanish winger has so far netted five goals in 13 Serie A games, having scored 12 and set up eight in 35 appearances last season.
If Falque can have another season like that this time around then you wonder whether a bigger club could come in for him.
The former Juventus youngster turns 28 in January but even then he has a solid few years left before his influence begins to wane.
Tottenham have hardly missed him, and he wouldn’t get in their best XI now, but that £3 million profit would look minuscule if he gets a big-money move away from Torino in the summer.
