Former star praises Arsenal’s Petr Cech.

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Ryan Mason has described Arsenal ace Petr Cech as a “proper man and gentleman” after the goalkeeper reached out to him in his hour of need earlier this year.
The Hull City man, 26, spent over a week in hospital back in February after undergoing brain surgery following a skull fracture in a Premier League game with Chelsea.
It was a horrific mid-air collision with Gary Cahill which could have cost Mason his life but the Arsenal goalkeeper knows all about skull injuries.

Back in 2006, the 35-year-old suffered a depressed skull fracture after colliding with Reading’s Stephen Hunt and, speaking to talkSPORT, the ex-Tottenham man couldn’t speak highly enough about the Czech veteran, who wears a scrum cap as protection on the pitch to this day.
“I can’t speak highly enough of Petr Cech. He’s set the standards of what it is to be a proper man and a gentleman,” said Mason to talkSPORT.
“Straightaway [after the incident] he contacted my family and my fiancée and reassured us that what we were going through was normal and to be expected, with not being able to talk and struggling with light and everything like that.

“We’ve been in touch ever since. He’s been round to the house again and we speak on the phone regularly. He’s been fantastic.”
It was a very commendable gesture by the Arsenal ace and Tottenham legend Graham Roberts admits he can only put rivalries to one side to praise him.
